Biography
I undertook inital nurse education in Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, UK. I began my professional nursing career as a general nurse, firstly in surgical nursing in Kingston Hospital, Kingston upon Thames, UK and later working in high dependency cardiothoracic nursing in St. James's Hospital Dublin. I subsequently specialized in Coronary Care Nursing. I obtained an Honors Bachelor Degree in Nursing from University College Dublin in 1997, and an MSc (Hons) in Educational Management in 2000 from University of Dublin, Trinity College. I completed a PHD in Nursing at University of Glamorgan, Wales. I was awarded Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998 (FFNRCSI) and Nurse Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2000 (NFESC). I currently work as a Senior Lecturer and Director of BSc( Cur)at the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies, Trinity College Dublin.
