| Biography | |
| Paul Keenan MSc, MA, BSc, PGCE, DipRS, DipHE NP, RNID, RNT. Paul is Assistant Professor - Intellectual Disability Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. Since 1988 he has worked with people with an Intellectual Disability in UK, New Zealand and Ireland. Paul has a fifteen year history of academic teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as research and publications. His research includes projects funded by Scope UK (Cerebral Palsy Society), Stewarts Care Ltd and National Disability Authority, Ireland. He is currently Project Managing a action research project to establish Person Centred Practices in Leinster (2011-2013). He supervises postgraduate research students across Faculties and is an executive member of Centre for Practice and Healthcare Innovation (2012-13) at TCD. He is a member of two national steering groups, namely Nursing Network in Intellectual Disability, Ireland (NNIDI) and IDRights. He is a former Head of Discipline – Intellectual Disability Nursing (2008-2012), Associate Director Undergraduate Nursing Programmes (2008) and Associate Director Undergraduate Teaching and Learning (2008) at the School of Nursing and Midwifery TCD. He is also a former member of the East of England Learning Disability Research Forum, Cambridge University and External Examiner Keele University (2002-2005). | |
